Chipping a tooth is not a fun experience, which is why our Quincy Center Dental Associates team is happy to help you improve the situation so you can find the comfort and health you deserve. If you’ve recently chipped or broken your tooth, we recommend doing the following things:

-Save pieces: Save as many pieces of the tooth as possible. Then, rinse your mouth with warm water and wash any of the broken pieces. Keep the pieces in a safe place until you see your dentist.

-Control the bleeding: Try to stop the bleeding by applying a piece of gauze pad or cloth to the area for about 10 minutes, or until the bleeding stops. If needed, feel free to replace the pad or cloth with a new one after 10 minutes has passed.

-Reduce swelling: Reduce the swelling by applying an ice pack or cold compress to the outside of the mouth, cheek, or lip that is near the injured area. This will keep the swelling down and relieve pain.

-Visit your dentist: Visit your dentist as soon as possible. Also, please don’t forget to bring the pieces of your tooth with you when you come in for your emergency appointment.
